Vanja Bućan
Mittels inszenierter Fotografie widmet sich die in Berlin lebende, slowenische Künstlerin aktiv dem Umweltschutz, der sich konzeptionell in ihrem künstlerischen Schaffen widerspiegelt.
»Wandering Icebergs« zeigt eine entspannte und einladende Szene, im maritimen Flair, eine bezaubernde Strandszene Badender. Die Idylle wird durch Wolken im Hintergrund mit ihren scharfen Silhouetten von sichtlich in eine Szenerie eingesetzten Eisbergen vervollständigt. Vanja Bućan möchte mit ihrem Werk die Veränderungsprozesse der Natur hervorheben. Der Mensch als winziges Fragment eines größeren Zusammenhangs. Vor einem Jahr wurde das Werk auf 4.000 Quadratmeter an der Fassade des Wr. Ringturms aufgezogen und wurde so zu einem weithin sichtbaren Appell an uns alle.
Die Fotocollage-Serie »Birds of Paradise« entstand während der Pandemie, als auch die Künstlerin plötzlich in ihrem Haus gefangen, begann, Fragen zu sozialen Konstruktionen, Geschlechterunterschieden, der Bedeutung von Mutterschaft und der Rolle von Frauen in einem Haushalt zu überdenken.

Biographie
VANJA BUĆAN was born in 1973 in Nova Gorica, Slovenia.
She currently lives and works in Berlin as a freelance photographer.
Since 2020 collaborates with Ljubljana Academy of Arts (ALUO) as a photo mentor.
